The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress avoided the “absence” of Mallikarjun Kharge inside the room where Priyanka Gandhi filed her nomination papers for the Wayanad by-poll on Wednesday.
While the BJP alleged that Kharge was made to stand outside the room as he was “not a family member”, the Congress explained that Kharge only followed the orders of the District Magistrate, which meant that only 5 people could stay inside the room, and in compliance. in his instructions, the Congress President “helped the DM”.

BJP leader and union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar shared a video on X where Kharge, the Congress President, was seen standing outside a room whose door was closed. Quoting the post, he said the sighting was when Priyanka Gandhi was filing her nomination papers and she was not allowed to enter the room as she was “not a family member”.
He pointed out that Kharge “sacrificed” dignity at the altar of the “arrogance” of the Gandhi family.
“Where have you been @kharge Saheb? When first family Priyanka Vadra ji filed her name as Cong candidate for Wayanad. He is kept out – bcoz he is not family. Self-respect and dignity sacrificed at the altar of arrogance and privilege of the Sonia family. Imagine if they treat a senior Dalit leader and Party President like this, how will they treat the people of Wayanad,” wrote Chandrasekhar in X.

AICC Secretary Pranav Jha was quick to respond to the former minister’s allegations that Kharge stood outside the door to obey the DM’s orders.
“We respect the order and punishments received by the District Magistrate. His rule required that there should be no more than 5 people joining him as a candidate in this room. By choosing to stand at the door the Congress President helped the DM,” Jha said on Twitter.
