A man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly running a fake court and passing an order regarding a land dispute in Gujarat. The matter came to light after the case was brought to the Ahmedabad City Civil Court after a police complaint was filed.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Morris Samuel Christian, has been issuing ‘judgments’ since 2019, mainly in land deals in the Gandhinagar area.
Christian established a fictitious arbitration center in Ahmedabad and introduced an order on government land. The suspect, Morris Samuel Christian, also became a judge, the complaint said.
He is accused of perpetrating a fraud that tricked many people into believing that they were fighting their cases in real courts. Christian issued all rulings in favor of his clients, the complaint said.
Christian lures unsuspecting people into world conflicts and becomes his victims, promising them quick decisions at great cost.
The police also said that Christian’s friends also pretended to be court employees, making it seem like a real court to deceive his clients.
In 2019, Christian filed an order in favor of his client. The case was related to government land while his client had laid claim on it and wanted to add his name to the revenue records related to the plot in Paldi area.
Without an official order, Christian led his client to believe that he had been appointed a “legal arbitrator” by the government.
The impostor was arrested, and his fake court confiscated after Hardik Desai, Registrar of City Civil Court, Bhadra lodged a complaint against Christian at the Karanj police station in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, the police said that a case has been registered against the accused under sections 170,419, 420, 465, 467, 471 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and that he was arrested.
Further investigations are underway, police said.
