The Kheda District Police on Tuesday started an investigation into the alleged extortion of money worth Rs 1 crore from a man, who was traveling from Kheda to Ahmedabad in a car, on NH-48 on Monday.
The man, in his police complaint, said the incident happened in the afternoon near Betdi Lat village on NH-48 in Kheda. Police say he works for a businessman from Ahmedabad. According to the police, the suspect who had withdrawn money from a private bank branch in Kheda was said to have been killed by four men in a van.
The police said that according to the complainant, he was beaten again by men who took away his bag containing money before leaving with the money. Giving details of the case, the Kheda district police chief said, “The police station in Kheda town has registered a case of looting and has started an investigation into the matter”.
“Different teams have been formed to search for the suspects and we are also taking CCTV footage to find clues. We hope that we will find progress in this case,” continued the police officer.
