Gujarat: At SEWA event, November 2 is declared as Unorganized Workers Day | Ahmedabad news

On the second anniversary of the death of SEWA founder Ela Bhatt, Sue Longley, General Secretary of the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco, and Allied Workers’ Associations (IUF), announced the -2 November “International Day of Unorganized Workers.”

Jyoti Macwan, Secretary General of SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association), said, “It is important that the world community honors November 2 as a day dedicated to illegal workers. We are committed to ensuring that this day is widely celebrated, with the support of trade unions, UN organizations, and international organizations. It will be a long process, but at SEWA, we welcome it as a ‘Building Struggle’.
