Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday lashed out at Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, calling him “the chief spokesperson of the government”. “The main reason for the disruption of the Rajya Sabha is the Chairman himself,” Kharge said while talking about the no-confidence motion against Dhankhar.
The INDIA party has sent a notice to bring a motion in the Rajya Sabha for the removal of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Speaking about the proposal of the opposition parties, Kharge stated that no decision has been taken to remove the Vice President since 1952 as the person holding this position was “impartial and beyond politics” and “always runs the House according to the rules.”
“But, today, there is more politics than legislation in the House,” Kharge said.

On the opposition side, whenever important issues are raised in terms of the rules – the Chairman does not allow the discussion to take place in an organized manner. Many times opposition leaders are stopped from speaking,” said Mallikarjun Kharge.
Kharge alleged that Vice President Dhankhar’s “loyalty” was towards the ruling BJP instead of the Constitution and constitutional culture.
He works as a government spokesperson to get promoted to the next position. I have no hesitation in saying that the biggest disruptor in the Rajya Sabha is the Chairman himself,” Kharge said.
