Congress member Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday (December 10, 2024) accused the government of not allowing the Lok Sabha to function as a strategy because it was afraid to discuss the Adani issue.

He also said that the ruling party accused the Congress leadership of conniving with George Soros to divert attention from an important issue involving the Adani business.

“Either the government does not want to manage the House or they cannot manage the House. Our protest is from 10.30 to 11 and we go inside the house to work but the work is not possible,” Priyanka Gandhi told reporters after the meeting. The house was adjourned for the day.

“As long as we are sitting, they start something to postpone the House. I think it is their plan, they don’t want to negotiate,” said the general secretary of the Congress.

The government is afraid to talk about the Adani issue as it knows that all the problems will come to light, he said. “I’m surprised, I’m new to the house, the Prime Minister hasn’t even arrived in Parliament yet.”

Priyanka Gandhi stressed that it is important to raise Adani’s case because of the allegations made in the US.

“It has been said in the US that they (Adani) paid bribes to increase the electricity bill for people and make a profit,” he said.

On the BJP’s allegation that opposition leaders are working with George Soros, Priyanka Gandhi said, “I think it is the most stupid thing they can come up with. Nobody has a record of it. Nobody knows what they are talking about.”

“The reason they are doing this is because they don’t want to talk about Adani,” he said.

His comments come after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the Congress and its leadership of colluding with American billionaire George Soros and anti-India militants, throwing the Lok Sabha into chaos and leading to its adjournment.

Speaking during Zero Hour, Mr. Rijiju also criticized Congress leaders for “attacking the reputation” of Parliament by coming to the House wearing masks and jackets with caricatures.

Opposition members poured into the Well when Mr. Rijiju said this.

The Minister said that the suspension of Congress leaders in Parliament made other members of the House unable to speak about matters affecting their constituencies.
