Germany’s Scholz will talk about economic relations with Ukraine

The German-Ukrainian Economic Forum will be held in Berlin on Wednesday, focusing on strengthening Ukraine’s economy after nearly three years of total Russian aggression.

On the German side, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Minister of Economy Robert Habeck and Minister of Development Svenja Schulze are expected to be present.

From Ukraine, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, his deputy Yulia Svyrydenko and Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko are expected to attend.

According to the organizers, there will be a special focus on providing energy to Ukraine, which entered the third winter of the war with great damage from the Russian invasion. Another topic is cooperation between German and Ukrainian arms companies.

In bilateral trade in 2023, Germany exported goods worth 6.9 billion euros ($8.8 billion) to Ukraine and imported goods worth 2.9 billion.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, goods from Ukraine mainly included agricultural products, auto parts and food.
