Jason Kempin/Getty ImagesGarth Brooks filed a complaint against her accuser in United States District Court just weeks before her sexual harassment allegations surfaced, according to documents obtained Us Weekly.
Brooks, 62, identified only as “John Doe,” says his accuser, identified as “Jane Roe,” was trying to defraud and defame him with “false allegations” that will “irreparably damage” his reputation.
The documents reveal that Brooks claims that Roe, now identified as her former hair stylist and makeup artist, asked Brooks for money when she was experiencing financial difficulties. Brooks says he did that at first, but his demands escalated until he asked for a raise and medical benefits. When Brooks refused, Brooks says, he responded with “false and outrageous allegations of sexual misconduct.”
In addition to the allegations of sexual misconduct, which we now know include allegations of rape, allegedly exposing himself and sending sex messages, Brooks says Roe also accused him of planning to hire someone to kill him.

Brooks’ complaint cites multiple demand letters from Roe that he allegedly sent in July and August seeking “millions of dollars.” He asks the court to give him “a decision that says that [the] The defendant’s allegations of sexual misconduct are untrue,” compensation and punishment, and more. Brooks also demanded a jury trial.
In another complaint received by Us Weekly and filed on October 1, Roe responded by calling Brooks’ allegations “a blatant attempt to game the justice system.”

The complaint also alleges that Brooks “improperly used the Declaratory Judgment Act in an extensive effort to prevent the truth from coming out.”

In the time since the Roe indictment came to light, Brooks has publicly denied any wrongdoing.
“For the past two months, I have been plagued by threats, lies, and sad stories about what my future will be like if I don’t write a multi-million dollar check,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
