In the latest update, Francisco Lindor, the New York Mets shortstop, will undergo further medical tests, including an MRI, following an early exit from Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies due to persistent back pain. Lindor’s early exit from the game was seen twice in the same week, highlighting his ongoing health concerns.
Common Back Discomfort: A Thorn in Lindor’s Side
The All-Star shortstop’s struggle with back discomfort was evident when he had to leave Friday’s game in the middle of the seventh due to back pain. As a precaution, he was left out of Saturday’s lineup. The discomfort continued to plague him Sunday, most evident when he took the first steps out of the batter’s box after his first hit in the first inning.
Hard Time for Lindor
“It’s an incredible challenge,” shared Lindor, after Sunday’s 2-1 loss. “Being a person who is always ready to be on the field and perform well, it is difficult to step back from the game and be in danger.” Lindor has expressed that back discomfort has been an ongoing problem for him and has seen an increase during this series.
