Four Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, a police chief said on Sunday (January 5, 2025).
A District Reserve Guard (DRG) officer was also killed in the face, he said.

Gunfire erupted on Saturday evening in the forest south of Abujhmaad near the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts when a security team was out on an anti-Naxalite mission, the official said.
After the ceasefire on Saturday night, four bodies of Naxalites and automatic weapons, including an AK-47 and a self loading rifle (SLR), were found in the area, he said.

DRG head Constable Sannu Karam was also killed in the exchange of fire, the official said.
A search operation was ongoing in the area, he added.
