Former Vice President Kamala Harris has called on President Joe Biden to resign and install his vice president as the nation’s first female president, albeit temporarily.
“Joe Biden has been amazing but he has to deliver on the last promise – to be reformist,” Jamal Simmons, the former vice president’s communications director, said on the social network after making a similar suggestion during a talk show on Sunday.
“Joe Biden has been an amazing president, he has fulfilled many of the promises he made. There is one promise left that he can fulfill, being a temporary person. He could leave the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris the President of the United States—,” Simmons told CNN’s “The Situation Room” in an interview.

“It will hold Trump accountable, prevent Kamala from running on January 6 and make it easier for the next woman to run,” he said.
“It will free him from overseeing the January 6 changes to his defeat. And it will confirm, it will dominate the news, in a place where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and do things that the public wants to see. This is the time for us to change the whole perception of how Democrats operate,” he said. In response to a question, Simmons said this is the best thing Biden can do now.
“This is something that Joe Biden controls. If he did, it would, once again, fulfill his last promise and give Kamala Harris the chance to become the 47th President of the United States of America. It would disrupt all things Donald Trump, wouldn’t it? He will have to change everything. And to make it easier for the next female president she doesn’t have to carry all that weight of being the first,” Simmons said.
Harris, 60, lost the Nov. 5 general election to President-elect Donald Trump.
