Ford is recalling about 144,500 of its Maverick trucks due to concerns that the rear camera display could show a frozen image while backing up.
The recalled Maverick trucks for the 2022-2024 model years have “Connected Radios,” according to a September 13 recall report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
In the report, Ford said the frozen rear camera image could lead to a “false representation of the vehicle’s relation to its surroundings, increasing the risk of a crash.”

The automaker linked the potential problem to “improper memory management” within the Connected Touch Radio software that has been resolved since production.
