Outside of fandom, the announcement that Chucky has been canceled and it’s a tough pill to swallow for everyone involved in the uber-successful series, especially the franchise’s creator, Don Mancini. Mancini was the mastermind behind the 1988 film Child’s Playwhich started what would eventually become a series of seven films and three TV seasons. Showing nothing but gratitude, Mancini took to social media to thank social media and fans for making the slasher series a hit.
In his book, Mancini wrote that although he was “heartbroken” by being told that Chucky cancelled, “he was very thankful for the killer for the three years we had him.” Calling out to the cast, crew, and all the other people involved in the project, he reminded those who were left frustrated that the killer doll “ALWAYS COMES BACK.”
