Sorry, Neil Lane – not all Bachelors decided to get down on one knee during the finale of the ABC dating series.
Former manager Chris Harrison faced pressure for the leader to propose during the interview The Hollywood Reporter in May 2018.
“People must know that nothing is guaranteed. There is no contract and no pressure from the cast or crew,” Harrison told the media. “I like that the program does not promise anything. We ask nothing and promise nothing. It’s all up to you. It is free will. It’s a scary way to put on a show. Every show has a beginning, middle and end. Well, our show doesn’t promise that. You don’t need to. You can go.”
Harrison added that he personally doesn’t care if the season ends with a proposal. Even when the series ends with an engagement, the commitment doesn’t always stick — and several former stars have spoken out about where their romances end up.
“[We were together for] 18 months and the only reason I know for sure is because I remember they wanted, like, to take my engagement ring away from me. And I was like, ‘No, this is part of my history, like, this is mine, you can’t have it!'” Ali Fedotowsky he remembered to Us Weekly“Here for the Right Reasons” podcast in 2020 about e.g Roberto Martinez. “According to the contract, it should have been two years, but they allowed me to keep it. … I was like, ‘You’re not taking this from me, like, I’m keeping it.’ I put my foot down. And they’re fine with it. They understood me when I was breaking down.”
