As his term as president of the Cameroon Football Association (FECAFOOT) will expire in a year, Samuel Eto’o he keeps adamant that he will run for election again.
In a recent interview with Radio France Internationale, the Cameroonian international striker acknowledged the challenges he faced during his tenure, which was evident in the public disputes with the national team coach. Marc Brys and political officials such as the President Paul Biya.
“This year was really difficult, but we persevered and kept moving forward,” said Eto’o. “I will discuss with my colleagues, those who trust me and those around me to see if it is still worth continuing.”
Eto’o, who was appointed president of FECAFOOT in December 2021, has been a divisive figure during his tenure. He has clashed with Brys over the management of the national team, and his relationship with government officials has been strained at times.
Despite the difficulties, Eto’o expressed confidence in his ability to rebuild the national team, saying, “If you don’t talk to Eto’o, we don’t even know where he came from… This means that, to a certain extent, I have achieved some success.”
