LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill held a press conference Wednesday following the Tesla Cybertruck explosion. McMahill thanked Elon Musk for quickly helping law enforcement.
Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk has announced that the electric car company will repair the Cybertruck that exploded earlier this week and get it back on the road.
The unique Tesla car retained its signature design, remaining highly visible even after the fire was extinguished outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
“The battery pack never caught fire and the tires are still inflated! Once we get this Cybertruck back to Tesla, we’ll take the scratches out and get it back on the road,” Musk wrote in a post on X.

When someone suggested that Musk was kidding, the corporate titan announced that he was fully committed to fixing the Cybertruck.
“No, I mean it,” he replied.
Musk said the explosion was unrelated to the Cybertruck, saying, “All of the vehicle’s telemetry was fine at the time of the explosion.”
Speaking about the evidence after the explosion, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill noted “those are gasoline bottles, that’s it, gasoline cans in the camp, and large explosives.”

McMahill said most of the blasts went “up and out of the truck,” which minimized the damage at the blast site. He mentioned that the doors of the hotel where the truck was parked next to had not been broken into.
“The Cybertruck is a terrible choice for a car bomb, as its stainless steel armor will contain the blast better than any other commercial vehicle,” Musk said on Twitter.

Authorities identified 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger as the driver of the Cybertruck. The man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a post X, citing the Clark County, Nevada, coroner.
