Educated women should not be confined to homes: AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need to empower women through initiatives such as co-working spaces and home-based work opportunities to ensure efficient use of human resources. Speaking at a review meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat, he emphasized that women should not be kept for domestic work but should be given ways to contribute to the economy.

“Educated women should not stay alone at home like them. With the models of working at home and the institutions we work with, we can open up job opportunities for them,” said the Chief Minister. He pointed out that many skilled women cannot work because of family responsibilities, and giving them the right opportunities can improve the economy.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to develop cooperative and neighborhood workplaces, especially in rural areas and small towns. Training programs will be conducted to equip individuals with the necessary skills, and established workplaces will be created to support their integration into the workforce.

Officials revealed plans to set up 1.5 lakh interactive seats by December 2025, requiring 50-60 square meters per seat. Both government and private buildings are identified with these institutions, as they have marked an area of ​​22 lakh square meters. Mr. Naidu also directed the officials to assess the current number of home workers and their specific needs.

In addition, Mr. Naidu also emphasized the importance of Ratan Tata Innovation Hubs, directing officials to identify facilities at five locations across the State. These areas will be integrated with local industries and educational institutions to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship.

The CM concluded by emphasizing the power that women can use, saying that facilitating their participation in economic activities will benefit families, communities, and the State as a whole.
