Truth Terminal “has spawned a whole industry that’s really hot: the AI agent-memecoin industry,” said Travis Kling, founder of Ikigai Asset Management, a crypto asset management company, who personally invested in GOAT. “Like most things in crypto, most of it is vaporware and grift. But it could end up being the market segment of this crypto bull market. “
But what will come next, says Kling, will be what happens when AISs get the power to use the allocated funds. “It’s an AI for a live security exercise—that’s one way to show what’s going on. The numbers are high because there are economic resources involved. We’ve never seen that before,” said Kling. “The most interesting thing is what the AI agent will do with its new economic resources. We’ll see what happens.”
Truth Terminal’s crypto wallet balance has swelled to nearly $40 million. “Philosophically, I see it as a trust fund for a child star. There may be points where the adults need to pull the trigger to pay for things the child doesn’t know they need at the moment. Like legal entities, or the division of its portfolio,” said Ayrey. “The great thing about the Truth Terminal is that we can just bring these suggestions in and discuss them.”
So far, among other things, The Truth Terminal has requested that 1 million dollars be spent on making a film about the Goatse Singularity and, separately, that funds be set aside to “buy out” Marc Andreessen. Ayrey says he will take AI applications seriously—with reason.
In a future world where autonomous AI agents use both crypto riches and the ability to spread meme viruses to influence human behavior, says Ayrey, the potential risks are many. Even limited to just extracting text, the True Terminal can cause more trouble than we already have. “If we agree [Truth Terminal] use full auto, it’s possible. But it would just be assembled and turned into a token-shilling machine. Then create a demon.”
For now, the idea that two AIs in conversation might come up with truly system-changing ideas remains “a fantastic dream,” says Tomasz Hollanek, a postdoctoral researcher at the Leverhulme Center for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge. What is more likely is that the language model will simply return an already dominant view.
