The Nilgiris district administration, on Monday (September 30, 2024) informed tourists visiting the district that they will have to continue applying for e-pass, following the directions of the Supreme Court.
In a statement, the Nilgiris district administration said that obtaining an e-pass to enter the Nilgiris was mandatory from May 7. The district administration said that the authority to apply for an e-pass, which is automatically approved, will continue with effect. future. Officials said that since the process was automated, and could be completed in a few minutes, there was no reason for visitors to worry about the process continuing.
They said tourists can apply for e-pass through the website, www.epass.tnega.org. For residents of the Nilgiris, they will not need to apply for an e-pass as long as they are traveling in Nilgiris registered vehicles (TN 43 vehicles).
The district administration has urged tourists and local residents traveling in vehicles registered outside the Nilgiris to apply for an e-pass that will be checked at all checkpoints before being allowed to enter the district, it said.
