DOWN THE GOAL RANGE!
The celebration was underway in Nashville following Vanderbilt’s dramatic 40-35 victory over No. 1 Alabama. 1 on Saturday afternoon. Fans stormed the field at FirstBank Stadium and quickly threw goalposts, which has become a common celebration when it comes to college football distractions.
But don’t think the celebration would stop there.
Not only did Vanderbilt fans make it their mission to tear down the goalpost, but they made it their mission to take it out of the stadium and onto Broadway Street, known as the city’s country music hub. Nashville.

The fans eventually made their way downtown, passing by the Bridgestone Arena, home of the NHL’s Nashville Predators. You can see fans jumping up and down cheering on the goalpost and many people filming the scene on their phones as police cars follow behind.
Finally, for the last time, the goal went through the city and into the Cumberland River. Check out this video, which shows fans throwing a pole into the river and joining in the excitement of the celebration!
It was a historic and well-deserved celebration as Vanderbilt earned its first win against an AP Top 5 team in program history.
