Amid speculations about a leadership change in Karnataka, several Congress leaders recently met party president Mallikarjun Kharge. However, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar dismissed the concerns, saying there was nothing unusual about it.
“It is natural for our workers, leaders, MPs and ministers to meet senior leaders. There is no need for misunderstanding,” said Shivakumar.
Regarding keeping the party informed about the country’s developments, Shivakumar explained, “I meet everyone every day. We send reports every day to the leaders. Our Congress office and research team monitor news, press reports, and developments, and send updates to Delhi regularly. .”
The ongoing Muda land ‘scam’, involving the alleged illegal allotment of land to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, has roused the state for four months.
The controversy deepened with the recent approval of prosecutions and cases by the Lokayukta and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Despite this scandal, the Congress leadership is silent, which may weaken the party’s standing in Karnataka.
