Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando plan to resume operations at their Florida theme parks on Friday, now that Hurricane Milton has passed.
The storm made landfall in Central Florida, where both parks are located, overnight after making landfall Wednesday evening near Siesta Key.
Ahead of the storm, Disney World and Universal Orlando had closed their parks and other attractions as of Wednesday afternoon, as FOX Business reported at the time. The companies kept their Florida parks closed on Thursday.

Disney provided an update midday Thursday on their plans, saying, “We are thankful that the Walt Disney World Resort weathered the storm, and we are currently assessing the impact on our property to prepare to reopen the theme parks, Disney Springs and other areas as soon as possible on Friday, October 11. “

Both also said that their hearts are with those who were hit by Milton.

Many local governments were assessing the damage Milton caused to their communities overnight. The severe storm was accompanied by strong winds, heavy rains and strong winds.
