Dhananjay Munde’s absence from PM events raises eyebrows | Mumbai news

He has been accused of the involvement of his close associate Walmik Karad, who was arrested and charged under MCOCA following the killing of Santosh Deshmukh of Massajog village in Beed, NCP leader and Maharashtra Food and Public Works Minister Dhananjay Munde on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plans and his speech to Mahayuti MPs in Mumbai raised eyebrows in the power corridors.

Munde is in the middle of controversy after Karad was arrested in a fraud case related to Deshmukh’s murder. On Tuesday, cases under MCOCA were filed against Karad and since then there has been tension in Parli, which is a town in Munde and Karad, in Beed district. The opposition wants Munde to step down.

On Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Ajit Pawar dissolved the party’s Beed district committee. According to sources, many members of the committee are connected with Karad and the party has now decided to reorganize the entire district committee.

After MCOCA charges were slapped on Karad, Parli town has been witnessing riots and protests. Munde’s absence from Modi’s programs on Wednesday comes amid this incident and demands that he be removed from the Cabinet.

According to NCP sources, Munde on Tuesday night held a meeting with Ajit Pawar and asked for permission to go to Parli on Wednesday to control the situation. “The situation in Parli is tense and tense. It takes a great leader like Munde to control the situation and not let it get out of hand. That is why Ajit Pawar allowed him to go,” said the NCP leader.
