Delhi Police wants LS Secy General’s nod in investigating the case against Rahul | Indian news

The crime branch of the Delhi Police has written to the Secretary General, Lok Sabha, seeking permission to inspect the parliament premises to further probe the case against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

The police have written to reconstruct the scene of the incident and to find out how the events happened. On Monday, MP Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were also discharged from the hospital. The police have also sought an opinion on their MLC and will also examine photographs from Parliament.

“Since the MPs have been released, we will record their statements again in the coming days,” said the police officer.

On December 17, the BJP and the Congress filed separate complaints at the Parliament Street police station, alleging assault.

Acting on the BJP’s complaint, the Delhi Police registered a case under several sections of the BNS.

Soon after the clash, the BJP alleged that two of its MPs, Pratap Chandra Sarangi from Odisha and Mukesh Rajput from UP, were injured after being thrown by opposition MPs as both sides protested over the BR Ambedkar issue. Sarangi said he was injured when Gandhi pushed a BJP MP, which led to his (Sarangi’s) fall.
