“There will be heavy movement of VVIPs and dignitaries in New Delhi and Central District areas on October 2, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday,” the order said.
The Delhi Police on Monday banned gatherings of five or more people, people carrying banners, placards and or demonstrations in central and border areas for the next six days in the national capital, citing law and order issues, including calls for restricted protests. by several organizations.
According to an order issued at the Delhi Police Headquarters, Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has ordered the imposition of section 163 (formerly section 144 of the CrPC) (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita in the districts of New Delhi, North and Central and all police stations that share borders with other states.
The ban will remain in effect until October 5, the order said.
“The general atmosphere in Delhi is sensitive on law and order due to various current issues like the prevailing social situation in view of the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill and the issue of Shahi Idgah in Sadar Bazaar area, a politically motivated issue of MCD Standing. Committee elections and, pending the declaration of Election results of DUSU etc,” said the order.

It also said that the assembly elections of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana are going on, so there is a need for continuous checks on the movement of people and vehicles from the borders of Delhi.

Therefore in the districts of New Delhi, North and Central except all police stations having local jurisdiction over the limits of Delhi district for a period of 6 days (from September 30 to October 5) prohibiting the assembly of five or more unauthorized persons, firearms, banners, placards, i -lathis, spears, swords, sticks, bricks and pickpocketing or dharnas in any public place and doing so will be punished under Section 223 (earlier section 188 of IPC) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 , it added.
