DC Studios is preparing a Bane and Deathstroke Team Up movie

Two of Batman’s most ruthless villains may soon be sharing the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios has hired writer Matthew Orton (Captain America: Brave New World) to write a movie that will feature both Bane and Deathstroke.

There is no director attached yet and there is no guarantee that the film will ever happen. But, it is written in the hope that it will happen. io9 has reached out to DC for comment or clarification and will update the piece if or when we hear back.

The move comes on Tuesday night The Joker movie, Joker: Folie in Deuxhitting theaters at Warner Bros. and DC and The Penguin rising to fame in Max. While those iterations of Bat-villains aren’t part of the larger DC Universe being developed by DC Studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, each is proof that projects about villains can be hits. Not to mention Gunn and David Ayer Suicide Squad movies. All of these certainly have a lot to do with the Bane-Deathstroke movie in development.

Bane, of course, was played mostly by Tom Hardy to Christopher Nolan The Dark Knight Rises. And while that was the actor’s biggest cultural moment, he became famous in comics for breaking Batman’s back in the epic “Knightfall.” Deathstroke was introduced some time earlier and appeared in Titans TV show and briefly on The Justice Leagueplayed by Joe Manganiello. That version of the character was also almost a villain for Ben Affleck Batman movie and even flirted with getting his own movie, though nothing came of it. Obviously.

The question now is, can this movie happen before or after The Brave and the Boldwhich movie is expected to properly introduce Batman to the DC Universe? It might be cool and interesting to poke around the Rogues’ Gallery before meeting the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder. Or, considering the film already has a director attached (the flash’s Andy Muschietti) and this isn’t happening, maybe down the road. The development status of all these DC projects remains a mystery.

What we do know is this. Creature Commandosout on Max on December 5, it will be the first official story in Gunn and Safran’s DC Universe. That will be followed Superman in July 2025 again Supergirl: The Woman of Tomorrow in June 2026. In the meantime, we can probably figure that out Lights show currently airing, and at least one unrelated Batman movie, by Matt Reeves Batman Part II, from October 2026.

What are your thoughts on Bane and Deathstroke teaming up? Do they share? Are they fighting each other? A bit of both? Let us know.
