Days of Our Lives star Brandon Barash leaves Salem, saying he was fired from the long-running soap opera after 5 years.
“I knew exactly what was going on when I was called [the boss’] office,” Barash, 45, told SheKnows’ Soaps.com in an interview published Friday, Oct. 25. “He said, ‘Look, this is not what I do. I don’t like it. And this is not a reflection of you or your abilities. You are very talented. We know your work ethic is very high, but that’s exactly where we decide to take character.’”
Actor, who played twins Stefan and Jake DiMera Dayshe went on to say that “he was in the middle of the contract, and it was the writers’ decision.” Days of Our Lives He did not comment on Barash’s claims or exits. Us Weekly has reached the comment.
Barash’s final episode as Stefan airs on Monday, October 28, seven months after his exit was first announced.
“Yeah, the ego is like, ‘Oh, OK, that hurts,'” he admitted Friday. “But I left the office equal parts shocked and excited about what was around the corner.”
Barash also does not know if his Stefan will return to him Days down the line.
“This is the second time this has happened to me Days of Our Lives. And, you know, it’s going to have to be pretty good,” Barash explained. “The conditions must be right. The story would have to be right. The contract has to be right.”
He added, “I’ll have to be able to trust them – and I’ve lost that. I lost that ability to trust that team, frankly.”
Barash has joined Days in 2019, taking over the role of Stefan from Tyler Christopher. He was killed in the same year before returning in 2020. Barash’s comeback show introduced Stefan’s twin brother, Jake, who was shot and killed in the July 2022 episode.
“How it started/how it went. #ripjake Nice to meet you. 🙏🥃,” Barash wrote on Instagram at the time, sharing his photos Days costume.
Weeks ago, head writer Ron Carlivati previewed Jake’s death.
“Some major character will be killed, like, in the near future,” said Carlivati in an interview in July 2023 no. Michael Fairman. “They will be killed and it will lead to a big talk, not a murder mystery. It’s not Marlena, I’ll just say that.”
