Financial expert Dave Ramsey joins ‘Cavuto: Coast to Coast’ to weigh in on President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks, and the backlash some of his nominees are facing.
As President-elect Donald Trump faces growing resistance from some of his Cabinet appointees, financial expert and founder of Ramsey Solutions Dave Ramsey has a clear message: Strong leadership means decisive action.
“There’s going to be a time when you’re going to have to fish or cut some food,” Ramsey said of the Cabinet nominees during an appearance Wednesday on “Cavuto: Coast to Coast.”
“A leader who will not stand by his team and cover his back when something goes wrong, sends a message to the whole team that he is not going there. [to] stand there.”
Ramsey’s advice comes as several nominees, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi, and Treasury Secretary nominee Scott Besent, work to secure Senate support amid intense scrutiny.

Ramsey emphasized the importance of maintaining a unified charge:

“If I were in this situation, I would leave [to] put this back until I decide not to,” he added. “I’m not going [to] waffle in the public eye. I’m leaving [to] do all this directly with the leader and decide if we go [to] let’s move forward even if we’re not together.”
The challenges are becoming apparent. Two of the nominees — former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, a former attorney general nominee, and Sheriff County Sheriff Chad Chronister, who oversees the Drug Enforcement Administration — withdrew. Despite this, Ramsey suggests that Trump’s choice is not just about passing Senate scrutiny.
“I don’t think he’s voted for Senate confirmation,” Ramsey said. “He chose them because their values are in line with where he wants to go.”

Credibility, Ramsey believes, is at the core of Trump’s selection process for this second Cabinet.
“He wants people who will leave if they oppose him [to] they don’t agree, they leave [to] have a good healthy disagreement. But not a walking person [to] cut his throat from behind.”
Ramsey posed three critical questions to the president-elect as he vets his nominees:
“Are our values in order? Is there an order of integrity? Are they smart enough, skilled enough to do the job in front of them?”
‘Kudlow’ panelists Monica Crowley, Deroy Murdock and Joe Borelli respond to the threats facing President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
These questions, Ramsey says, should guide Trump’s decision-making as he navigates the political and media pressures surrounding his Cabinet picks.
Ramsey urged Trump to avoid letting outside noise influence his decision.
“You cannot allow the masses to decide your leadership. Because if you do, you will quickly find that ‘m’ is silent,” he said.
With the Republicans’ 53-seat majority in the Senate, Trump’s team can only lose by four votes per nominee. The stakes are high, and confirmation battles are imminent, but Ramsey’s advice emphasizes the need for clarity and determination.
