The daughter of Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell reposted the family’s home address on Snapchat following the team’s loss in January, according to police reports obtained by the Detroit News.
This incident is one involving people who were staying at a Bloomfield Township home uninvited and preceded the move to another home that was purchased by a mortgage company, the newspaper reported.
Campbell and wife, Holly, listed a 7,800-square-foot Bloomfield Township home sold this month for $4.5 million. “For people to find out where we lived when we lost,” Dan Campbell told Crain’s Detroit Business.
“Man, I’ve got a job to do,” Campbell told reporters on Friday. “My main job here is to train this team and get them prepared every week. I have to do my job, and that’s all I’m focused on.”
The team finished the 2023 regular season with a 12-5 record, good for first place in the NFC North and The Lions’ first title in over 30 years. Detroit then defeated the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round and advanced to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the division before losing the conference champion 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers, hitting a 24-7 halftime deficit.
A police report obtained by the Detroit News said that since New Year’s Eve, police were notified that calls were being made to Campbell’s home and that three people had knocked on the door.
“All the people who come to his house are related to work (locksmith, roofer, etc.),” ​​said the report. “There are no problems and Campbell has no idea how his information was leaked.”
More police patrols have been requested at the home.
But the team’s Jan. 28 loss to San Francisco in the NFC Championship angered some fans. Campbell’s address and insults about the coach were posted on Snapchat and shared with her schoolmate.
That night, people started showing up, scaring Campbell’s daughter who eventually left the house, the report said.
Lions guards contacted Bloomfield Township police, telling them the address had been posted online.
“Cars and people were seen outside where they live but they did not enter anywhere,” wrote the investigator.
The NFL’s security officer contacted police the next day about the student’s involvement in the classroom on Snapchat. The police then contacted the security guards of their private school. Investigators spoke with the boy’s mother, who told police that she “knows the situation and that Ms. Campbell has contacted her and left her a message about (the student’s) position,” the report said.
A classmate later told investigators that he saw a post with the address on Snapchat, copied it and wrote his own story.
The school security officer also learned that the boy and some of his classmates drove to Campbell’s house after the NFC Championship game, parked on the street and yelled in the direction of the house before leaving.
Bloomfield Township is located northwest of Detroit.
