Opposing the BJP’s opposition to the withdrawal of cases against accused persons in the 2022 Hubbali riots, Prime Minister Siddaramaiah recalled that the previous BJP Government in the State also dropped the cases of RSS members. He was answering questions from journalists in Mysuru on Sunday (October 13, 2024).

However, Mr. Siddaramaiah pointed out that the decision on this issue was taken by the Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by the Minister of Home Affairs G. Parameshwara. The decision of the sub-committee was brought before the Cabinet and accepted.

The motion to withdraw the charges will now be submitted to the court. Charges can only be dropped if the court approves them, he said.

Reduction of central taxes

Taking seriously the injustice done to Karnataka in transfer of central taxes, Mr. Siddaramaiah asked people to raise their voice against injustice.

While Karnataka has been allocated a meager amount of ₹6,498 crore, Uttar Pradesh has been allocated more than ₹31,000 crore. He accused the BJP leaders of betraying the people of Karnataka by forgiving the Center this time.

BJP MLAs elected in Karnataka also did not raise their voice against the injustice of the Government in transfer of central taxes. He said that Karnataka has lost Rs 60,000 crore in the last five years during the release of central taxes.

A prosperous Dasara

He said this year’s Dasara event was a great success as a large number of people had come to watch the show.

He said the government has decided to organize the festival on a grand scale this year and praised Mysuru district in-charge Minister HC Mahadevappa and the Mysuru district administration officials for successfully organizing the festival this year.

Apart from a minor disruption caused by rain during the Jamboo Savari procession, the festival was held successfully. As the government is planning Dasara celebrations, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that he participated in all the programs on Vijayadashami day in Mysuru.
