Karan Johar has worn many hats in the entertainment industry – as a film director, producer, television personality, host, fashion designer and actor. As the head of Dharma Productions, one of India’s leading production and distribution companies, he introduced several actors and filmmakers, cementing his name in Bollywood. As a result, whenever the topics of “privilege” and “racism” in the film industry come up during conversations, Karan’s name is usually the first to be mentioned.
However, it seems that Karan’s “privilege” didn’t serve him when he needed it the most. Like millions of fans around the world, Karan also took to the internet on Sunday to buy tickets for Coldplay’s upcoming concerts during the event. The Mumbai leg of the Music of the Spheres World Tour in 2025. Despite his efforts, the co-ordinator could not get even one ticket, leaving him despondent.

After the backlash, Karan took to Instagram stories to share a funny post about how the incident has kept his right to be. “Dear privilege, I love that Coldplay and little Kelly always keep you grounded… you can’t have everything you want, my love… Much love… Savings,” she wrote.
This comes despite Coldplay adding a third show to the Mumbai leg of their tour due to popular demand. At first, the group had it announced two shows on January 18 and 19, 2025at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai. Now, a third show is scheduled to be held at the same venue on January 21. This will be Coldplay’s first performance in India in eight years, after they last played in Mumbai during the Global Citizen Festival in 2016. The Music of the Spheres World Tour, which started in Costa Rica on March 18, 2022, will conclude at Wembley Stadium in London on August 31, 2025.
