Roy Rochlin / Getty ImagesCNN anchor and writer Alisyn Camerota announced the death of her husband, Timothy Lewistwo years later he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was 58 years old.
On Friday, September 20, Camerota shared a post on Instagram with a photo of her wedding day with Lewis, and paid tribute to her late husband.
“Some very sad personal news to share: my beloved and extraordinary husband Tim passed away on July 27, two years after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer,” she wrote in a statement.
Camerota continued, “I can’t think of anyone who was a soldier with a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility and courage than Tim. He was an amazing father, husband, friend and role model and we are all trying to follow in his footsteps.”
The reporter also talked about how their children – twin daughters Alessandra and Francesca, 19, and son Nathaniel, 17 – were handling the loss.
“The children and I are still finding it,” explained Camerota. “Tim gave us great strength and stability and we are determined to try to emulate those qualities.”
The document celebrated Lewis’ compassion, and Camerota noted that he was committed to “trying to make life easier for the people around him.” He is involved with a fundraiser in Lewis’ honor to help other families who have had cancer.
“This month would have been our 23rd wedding anniversary,” Camerota wrote on Instagram. “I feel very fortunate to have had such a deep, committed, loving relationship in the time that we have.”
Explaining that he will write about Lewis in depth later, he also thanked everyone who reached out and supported their family.
“Thank you all for your love and books, lasagna trays, and many acts of kindness,” she said. “Thank you.”
Lewis’ obituary said he died “peacefully on July 27 from complications from cancer, surrounded by his loving family.”
“Tim was a gentle man and a true scholar, qualities that were evident whenever one discussed politics or world affairs with him,” the report said.
Originally from Kansas City, Lewis attended Yale University where he joined the a cappella group, the Spizzwinks. He would later study at the Kellogg School of Management.
According to his biography, Lewis was passionate about coaching his children’s basketball team, volunteering in his community, and organizing activities such as “neighborhood walks, vacation visits, and beach days on Nantucket.”
