While Chainsaw Man’s The manga has been putting fans through the wringer for the past few years, we haven’t heard much about its great anime adaptation in a while. Studio MAPPA has been busy, but last year, it revealed that it would return to Denji and Pochita not for a new season, but for the movie that premiered at this weekend’s Jump Festa.
Based on the “Reze” manga arc, the film finds Denji excited to finally be with his boss Makima. It wasn’t long before he found himself bumping into a nice girl, Reze, who seemed to like spending time with her, and this young man (saw) couldn’t help himself. Unfortunately, it turns out that Reze’s intentions aren’t as pure as they seem, and he’s a Devil, just like him. As such, Denji must fight his new bankruptcy and save Japan from the chaos he wants to cook. And part of that will involve riding a shark in the air because… of course, of course Chainsaw Man, sometimes that’s part of the job.
If MAPPA’s work looks good, it does well, and this movie seems to be. In the middle Chainsaw Man’s season one too RoseThe studio is constantly pushing itself—often literally, and in troubling ways—and you can see the results of that effort here. I Rose The film is expected to drop in 2025, in what will be the biggest year for MAPPA: in addition to this, another film of its own. The Rose of Versailles it goes down, and it will be released Lazarus Adult Swimming, the original series Zenshu, and another season of Otherworldly Fire Cooking With My Crazy Skill.
As for when Chainsaw Man’s to get a proper second season, MAPPA did not say. But if the new eras of Jujutsu Kaisen, Ranma 1/2, again Paradise is hell they are coming, that hopefully won’t be far behind.
