If you’ve spent hours hunting down ferocious Ravagers, climbing Tallnecks, and figuring out how to take down the mighty Thunderjaw, you might want to hear this news: a Horizon: Zero Dawn the movie is coming.
The film adaptation of Guerrilla Games’ acclaimed 2017 open-world game was announced by Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, during Sony’s CES 2025 keynote on Monday. A cinematic miracle already, Horizon: Zero Dawn follows the machine-hunting protagonist Aloy (portrayed by Ashly Burch) in a wild, beautiful, futuristic America filled with ferocious dinosaurs.

“I’m delighted to be able to reveal for the first time here today, Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are in the early stages of developing an award-winning feature film. Horizon: Zero Dawn,” said Qizilbash. “Just imagine, Aloy’s beloved origin story in a vibrant, futuristic world filled with giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen.”

It’s the only information revealed yet, though we think a) it will be it is expensive and b) Aloy’s role will be one of the hottest roles Hollywood has in the books – especially since Horizon: Zero Dawn the game has a following. Even though seeing Sawtooth drop live will be epic, one thing PlayStation and Columbia will have to remember is backing off. Horizon: Zero Dawn accepted with a share of Native American culture.
I Horizon: Zero Dawn The film is one of many releases announced by Sony at CES, including a film production of Helldivers 2 again until dawn, and the anime series it is based on The wind of Tsushima – not to mention the output window The Last of Us Season 2. It’s no surprise that Sony is leaning heavily on video game adaptations, with the likes of ArcaneIt fallsTomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and many more that hit it out of the park last year.
