In a keynote speech titled “After Voltaire: The Next Evolution of Cardano,” Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, revealed a visionary road that could see the blockchain ecosystem run the nation by 2030. Hoskinson sees this state as a large organization, which could serve tens of millions of people.
We as an ecosystem have to make a decision. Do we want to be shy and chase our own myths and focus on small concerns or do we want to be bold and change the world? There’s no reason we can’t for the first time in human history. […] We have to decide what we are going to do with it and how far we want to take it. I believe that we can manage a country in Cardano in 2030 and not a small one, with tens of millions of people,” said the founder of Cardano.
How Cardano Can Treat the Nation’s World
Hoskinson reflected on Cardano’s journey over the past seven years, emphasizing the project’s transformative impact. “We went from a whiteboard like this to something that has changed the lives of countless thousands of people,” he said. After traveling to 74 countries and interacting with tens of thousands of people, he noted that many have expressed how their lives have been changed by being part of the Cardano community.
The main theme of Hoskinson’s speech was the power of corporate governance and social cooperation. He stressed that the upcoming chain rule system “is not just another one.” [mechanism] to make a decision; it is about bringing people together to make the right decisions.” The program aims to involve the community in shaping the future of Cardano, with hundreds of workshops planned for the coming year to discuss marketing, marketing, and system growth.
Hoskinson also highlighted the important role of the Cardano Constitution, created “by the people again,” which puts human rights at its core. “We must have some protection of our data and our privacy, our freedom of association, commerce, and speech,” he asserted. The constitution seeks to ensure that the original goals of the ecosystem are maintained, especially in an environment where trust in unelected companies is diminishing.
The roadmap includes the launch of major projects such as Midnight, which is expected to attract millions of new users to the ecosystem. Hoskinson believes that these initiatives will promote the development of a number of important projects in various domains, and expand the Cardano community.
Addressing the broader implications of Cardano’s evolution, Hoskinson drew parallels with historical versions that reshaped social structures. “As the American Revolution fundamentally changed the social contract of the world […] we can hold another revolution to reclaim our digital lives,” he announced. He criticized the dominance of multi-billion dollar corporations that control most of people’s lives, advocating for a future where power is decentralized and returned to the people.
Hoskinson also emphasized unity in the blockchain industry against centralization. “Everyone in the blockchain industry is the same in that we’re all trying to fight the same thing: consolidation,” he said. He called for an end to divisive narratives, urging cooperation to prevent a “dismal future of 2030” dominated by centralized control.
Concluding his keynote, Hoskinson expressed optimism for the future of the Cardano ecosystem. “We have built a team of people who can do everything well and now we have the resources as an ecosystem to do that. And we have an engine that keeps getting faster and faster. We just have to have the desire to unite and prove that we are the ones who will do this and we have to see that.”
