Cardano Founder Reveals Bitcoin DeFi Roadmap to 2025

In a series of statements on X, Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano and CEO of Input Output Global (IOG), revealed his plans to integrate Bitcoin into the decentralized ecosystem (DeFi) in 2025. This program involves spending Bitcoin money and making. project layer-2 as a network.

Hoskinson said, “Bitcoin DeFi is a very important roadmap that the IOG will pursue in 2025 with partners like Fair Gate Labs and community projects and wallets. I gave the team a goal of a meaningful demo with Bitcoin 2025 in May. A huge task, but the opportunity is there and it’s time to #AwakenTheSleepingGiant Bitcoin.”

The announcement sparked a debate about the future integration of BitcoinOS (BOS), a contract operating system designed to improve Bitcoin’s interoperability with DeFi platforms. On October 24, Emurgo, the trading arm of the blockchain, announced that it is integrating the BOS Grail bridge with Cardano in cooperation with the developer of Grail, BTCOS.

Wondering about Hoskinson’s announcement that Fair Gate Labs will use the Bitcoin DeFi bridge, The Angry Crypto Show (@angrycryptoshow), asked the strategy: “Why don’t we build on the momentum we had with BitcoinOS, or support Sundial, etc.

In response, Hoskinson emphasized the role of Fair Gate Labs, saying, “Fairgate developed the technology that BitcoinOS is based on and does not need its own token. Only bitcoin needs to be used for cross chain transactions.”

Community member J₳zzwhistlΣ (@jazzwhistle) raised concerns about how the passing of BitcoinOS might affect ADA’s participation in the multi-chain BTC DeFi ecosystem.

Hoskinson addressed this concern by highlighting the broader interoperability of the project: “We have a multichain ecosystem at midnight. It will connect to Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, XRP, and many others. All we will gain is less money as BOS pulls us out of the church series during the merger. “

Edan Yago, the founder of BitcoinOS, responded to Hoskinson’s reservation, saying, “BOS has no intention of abandoning Cardano. We are actively involved with developers to make BOS integrated with Cardano. Why don’t you want us to build on it [it]?”

Hoskinson responded by encouraging a direct commitment to the ecosystem: “Then strengthen your connection to the ecosystem and present it as a traditional Cardano token.”

Yago accepted the proposal, showing willingness to explore the option: “I would expect that BOS will be on Cardano. Would you like to help with that? BOS is a new type of replicable token, designed specifically to work with Bitcoin. I think it would be a very interesting token type for Cardano. “

The integration of BitcoinOS and its BOS Grail bridge into the ADA ecosystem may improve trustless and secure cross-chain transactions using zero-information cryptography. This will allow Bitcoin currency to be accessed by DeFi applications on Cardano, potentially expanding the ecosystem and user base.

At press time, ADA traded at $1.01.
