The body of a BJP leader was found inside the party office at Usthi in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, a police officer said on Saturday.

The BJP pointed the finger at the TMC, while the police, after arresting a woman in connection with the murder, said the motive for the killing could be personal.
Naskar’s bloodied body was found at the club’s office on Friday night. His family members said he has been missing since November 5.
The police chief said that the arrested woman admitted that she beat the deceased with sharp weapons which led to his death.
“We are looking at where the deceased was involved in a relationship and any conflict with the arrested person,” he told reporters.
The officer said that the police team broke open the front door and the collapsible gate that was locked inside the party office before finding the body. The suspect accused of assault must escape through the back door.
Following the initial investigation and mobile phone tracking, the woman was taken to a nearby area and during interrogation, she confessed to committing the crime, said the police officer.
It is being investigated whether he was assisted by someone else, he said.
BJP and TMC were in a war of words following the murder.
BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar told reporters that local TMC activists killed Naskar as they wanted to intimidate the supporters of the saffron party in the area.
In a post on X, Majumdar said, “Our fight will continue until justice is done and the killers of Prithviraj are brought to light. The BJP remains steadfast in ending the bloody and oppressive rule of CM Mamata Banerjee in Bengal.
“The police ignored his family’s pleas for help,” the statement said.
Senior TMC leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh said BJP knows the reason behind Naskar’s death but is telling lies about TMC.
Ghosh said that in the X post there are reports about the deceased having enmity with more than one person.
The injuries on other parts of his body showed hatred and contempt for the suspect, said the TMC leader, expressing hope that the investigation will reach all these angles.
Meanwhile, Naskar’s father said that his son had incurred the wrath of some local TMC activists and the police after he put up posters demanding justice for the RG Kar hospital victim during the recent Durga Puja festival in the area.
“My son has been warned of dire consequences by local TMC leaders for organizing protests over the RG Kar issue during the Christmas holidays,” said the father.
