BJP questions Congress’s commitment to Ambedkar’s ideals and legacy

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress party of ‘playing theatre’ inside Parliament in the guise of defending the Constitution, despite rejecting Dr. BR Ambedkar.

The group’s spokesperson, Mr. Samanchi Srinivas, at a press conference here on Monday, recalled the incidents that rocked Parliament a few days ago and wondered if such actions did not make a mockery of the Constitution. Mr. Srinivas accused the Congress of using the name of Dr. Ambedkar while in power for decades, despite doing little to perpetuate his memory or fulfill the ideals he stood for.

At the same time, Mr. Srinivas dared the Congress party to reveal why it did not give Dr. Ambedkar ‘Bharat Ratna’.

Recalling that it was the BJP that expanded the five areas associated with his life by naming them as ‘Panch Theerthas’, the BJP leader advised the Congress to think beyond doing ‘cheap politics with empty rhetoric’.
