Bill Gates said that he privately donated approximately 50 million dollars to a non-profit organization that supports Kamala Harris, the New York Times reported, citing three people briefed on the matter.
The Microsoft co-founder’s contribution to Future Forward, Harris’s largest outside fundraising group, was supposed to remain low, the outlet reported.
Gates has never publicly endorsed a presidential candidate before, but he had praised Harris when he was the Democratic nominee, saying it was “great” to have a young candidate running.

The NYT, citing a confidential phone call, said Gates expressed doubts about Trump’s presidency, but shared that he would work with any candidate.

The outlet reported that Gates discussed his pro-Harris donation with Mike Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York City, who had considered a similar-sized donation.

The donation from Gates comes after a Forbes survey found that 81 businessmen support Harris, compared to 50 billionaires who support Trump.

Harris boasts that supporters include LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman and the owner of the Atlanta Falcons Arthur Blank.
