The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has issued legal notices to Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, and YouTuber Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, for their comments on alleged irregularities in the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE).
The commissioner accused Khan of spreading false information about the deferral of marks in the BPSC exam, which he said was behind the aspirants’ protests. The notice also revealed that Khan Sir used words like “the besharam” (they are shy) and “lol” (stupid person) to explain the commission during the protests.
Khan has been asked to submit proof of his claims within 15 days or face legal action. He told reporters, “I will continue to fight for the students’ issue,” adding that he will consult with his lawyers before giving an answer.
Prashant Kishor, on the other hand, has been asked to confirm his allegations that government jobs in Bihar are being sold for prices ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore, with the total amount of alleged corruption exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. In interviews, Kishor described this issue as a huge scandal. The BPSC has given him seven days to present evidence.
The controversy arose following the alleged leak of the question paper during the December 13 examination, which was attended by more than 12,000 students in Patna. Although the government denied the allegations, it ordered that those involved be re-examined.
The protests have intensified as students want the exams to be cancelled. Independent MP Pappu Yadav called for a state-wide bandh on January 12. Congress student wing leader Varun Choudhary joined the protests, watching the vigil silently.
