“There’s a lot on the internet. “If I didn’t have tough skin or strength, I wouldn’t be living here,” Keoghan told the broadcaster. People just read that [as] laziness and walking, ‘Oh, that’s no excuse for being an absent father.’ I am not an absent father.”
Keoghan – who shares his son Brando with an ex Alyson Sandro – he seemed to be referring to a comment he made during an interview with her Entertainment Weekly in September, where he talked about his relationship with his son while promoting his new film, A bird.
He continued, “But, again, people like to use my son as ammunition or whatever. And it leads me to quit, when I get too much attention [gotten] recently and as i’ve become more and more social, i’ve been posting less and less about my child, because i don’t feel it’s okay to put my child online. And because I ruled that, people draw a story and say, ‘Absent father, s—, murderous father,’ and other disgusting things that I won’t repeat. It’s just the courage of other people, men. It makes me angry, it makes me angry.”
Although Theroux told the actor he didn’t want to “state the obvious,” he advised him to “not look at comments” from people online, prompting Keoghan to say why he sometimes reads what is said about him.
Noting that he doesn’t stay online when auditioning for a role, Keoghan explained, “When I have a little time, I’m a curious person like the rest of us, and I want to know what’s what. [people are saying online]especially when it is slander and when it is bad language that attacks the way I look or attacks me as a father.”
He continued, “I have blocked some words because I don’t want to read them.” Things like my son – people don’t deserve to put that in a sentence, or anything. I’m just trying to make a living, I’m trying to find a good job and create safety for my child.”
Keoghan and Sandro, 33, welcomed their son in August 2022. The couple are now dating in early 2021 before calling it quits in the summer of 2023.
The Golden Globe nominee has continued to be a singer Sabrina Carpenter. The two started sparking romance rumors in December last year after pictures of the two of them out and about in Los Angeles did the rounds.
An insider told later Us Weekly that the two have been dating since at least January.
“They took things slow at first, but the relationship is going strong,” a source told Us exclusively in March. “They are both free-spirited and enjoy being down-to-earth in their spare time. They don’t put too much pressure on themselves, and Sabrina likes that Barry understands that he’s very busy with his work commitments right now.”
One of those work commitments was Mbazi, 25, who is open Taylor Swift to him The Eras Tour earlier this year. Keoghan entertained the former Disney star at several concerts in Singapore in March.
“Sabrina loves that he has been making an effort to support her in her plans and give them the opportunity to spend time together during this busy season,” added the insider. “She’s a total fan and thinks she’s really cute.”
