The Ayush Ministry’s ‘Swarna Prasan’ program was launched in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday with 500 school students guided through the traditional ayurvedic method.
Vedanta Aluminum in collaboration with the Department of Ayush launched the program in the district and planned to extend the support to the nearby districts of Rayagada and Koraput.
Around 500 students from Manikeshwari High School and Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Bhawanipatna, the capital city of Kalahandi district, participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ayodhyanath Behera, assistant medical officer of the district, said that Swarna Prasan is a time-tested ayurvedic practice, and its benefits in improving immunity and mental performance in children are well documented.
“With our collaboration with the Odisha government and the Department of Ayush, we aim to expand the Swarna Prasan program to benefit 30,000 children, from infants to 16 years of age, across Koraput, Kalahandi and Rayagada by 2024,” the COO Bauxite Mining, Vedanta Aluminium, Nitin Kumar Tiwari, said.
