Attitudinal change is needed among doctors to ensure quality healthcare to people, says AP Minister

Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Y. Satya Kumar Yadav emphasized the need for medical professionals in the government and private sector to resolve to provide better services to the people and treat them in a humane manner to achieve the goal of ‘Healthy, Wealthy and Happy Andhra Pradesh’.

In an open letter written to medical and health professionals in the State on January 1 (Wednesday), Mr. Satya Kumar highlighted the concerns and problems plaguing these two sectors, and asked the health professionals to work towards eliminating these shortcomings.

Regarding the operation of public hospitals, the Minister said that the response from the people and the media raises concerns about the attitude of doctors and supporting medical staff, the availability of doctors and other staff during certain working hours, senior doctors and specialists who do not enter OP and IP services. as required, the operation of diagnostic equipment, among others.

“Clear guidelines have been issued to deal with various errors in order to make a difference and improve the quality of delivery of health services to people who visit public hospitals every day,” the Minister said in the letter. He hopes increased vigilance will make a difference.

Speaking about health care in the private sector, the MEC said there is a need for officials to look into people’s complaints, including the high cost of treatment, the issuance of unnecessary medical tests, the speed at which patients with little contact with doctors are discarded. and patients, low fees supporting nursing and technical staff etc.

He said, on New Year’s Day, health workers should resolve to address this concern and reorient their attitude towards patients and work together to bring about positive change in health care services in the State.
