Archana Puran Singh has been a constant on Kapil Sharma’s show for almost five years. He was previously one of the judges on the Sony Entertainment Television show, Comedy Circus. This is also the show that brought fame to comedians Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh, Sudesh Lehri, Rajiv Thakur and Krushna Abhishek, among others. The show has seen many judges including Sohail Khan, Rohit Shetty, and Shekhar Suman. But, one person who remained constant was Archana Puran Singh.
In a podcast with Bharati Singh on her YouTube channel Bharti TV, Arkana recalled how some judges would not like it when comedians would crack jokes at them and would often question her with laughter.
He said, “My fellow judges used to be disappointed when I used to laugh at the jokes made on them. They used to be like, ‘Archana why are you laughing at the jokes made on us? Amajaji ki garima kam hojayegi (This degrades the dignity of the judge.) I did not know what the word garima meant, I had to look it up in the dictionary.”
He added, “Rohit Shetty used to laugh at these jokes, but Shekhar used to keep quiet.”
Talking about his jokes, the actor said, “I don’t feel bad when Kapil makes jokes about me. He explained, “My reaction to his jokes is not forced, I find them very funny and I laugh.”

Archana shared how letting these comedians do comedy has improved their comedy skills. He said, “Whenever you all bring me punch lines (during the comedy circus), you guys get a little worried about it, but when you see me laugh, you all get better.” Some judges can be very upset.”
In the same interview, Archana shared, after a point Shekhar Suman became aware of not allowing jokes and finally had to give a look to Archana Puran Singh to enjoy jokes about him.
Earlier, Archana Puran Singh had opened up about laughing at some jokes. He told the makers of this concept that if he is going to laugh at bad jokes, people will find them funny.
During the press conference before the release of season 2 of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the actor said, “Earlier people said that I laugh at bad jokes, I am not happy about it. What was happening at that time was that if a particular comedy had no punch, they (the makers) thought that if we use Archana’s laugh then woh punch utth jaayega (it will make people laugh), but it didn’t work. thus, woh punch nahi utha, but main hi baith gayi (it was not a joke, and instead I was criticized). People started thinking, ‘this woman is crazy, she laughs. The sincerity of my laughter struck me.”
He said, over the years, his laughter has become like a response and he only laughs when he feels the joke is funny.
