Andhra Pradesh government is back (website containing government orders) on Monday, more than three years have been closed by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government.
Uploading of government orders (GOs) on the portal is not done by the government from August 15, 2021 to August 28, 2024.
GOs issued from February 2008 till date are available on the portal outside of this given period. Users and the general public do not have access to GOs during those three years or more.
The existing/old portable GOs issued by all the then Secretariat departments will now be uploaded within two months, as per GO MS No.93 issued by Secretary (GAD) S. Suresh Kumar.
The official noted that GOs issued at that time needed to be made available to the public and users for reference, and to avoid misinformation caused by non-uploading of GOs.
Apart from that, the uploading of GOs seems to be important to check their authenticity, and in line with Section 4 of the Right to Information Act, 2005, which makes the voluntary disclosure of information related to the government mandatory.
Also, it was recognized that easy access to information can reduce the time spent by public servants searching for documents, thereby improving overall efficiency.
