Sen. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., joined ‘The Big Money Show’ to discuss FTC chair Lina Khan’s testimony during a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on antitrust laws and their enforcement.
New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has vowed to “come out of the fight” if there is a successor to Federal Trade Commission chairwoman Lina Khan.
Harris-Walz campaign chief Mark Cuban told Semafor that Vice President Kamala Harris should replace Khan as head of the FTC, prompting the AOC to respond.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t” keep Khan, Cuban said at a Kaiser Family Foundation luncheon Tuesday. “The big picture is, you hurt more than you help.”

Cuban said he hadn’t talked to Harris’ advisers about it, and while he applauded his efforts to launch antitrust probes, he said he went too far in taking on tech firms in the AI ​​space.

“Let me make this clear, as millionaires try to play footsie with a ticket: Anyone gets close to Lina Khan and there will be an argument,” AOC posted on X. “And that is a promise. The admin is proving that he is fighting for the working people. It would be bad for the leadership to remove him.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vt., also posted his support for Khan on X.

“.@mcuban is wrong,” he wrote. “Lina Khan is the best FTC Chair in modern history. By taking on corporate greed and illegal monopolies, Lina is doing an outstanding job of preventing big companies from defrauding consumers and exploiting workers.”
The FTC responded to Cuba’s comments, echoing Khan’s belief that “excessive integration” harms the United States.
“Chairman Khan believes that favoring competition over regulation of integrated markets is a way to let the best ideas prevail,” FTC spokesman Doug Farrar told Semafor.

Cuban clarified his position on X, saying: “This is about AI. It’s a zero sum race to dominate the world. If we lose, the consequences are much bigger than the economy. We have many companies fighting to win this race. And that competition is taking everyone forward. Even money as much as is necessary.”
