In the Lok Sabha, BJP Member Anurag Thakur criticized Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi during a debate, questioning the opposition’s understanding of the Constitution.
“Previously, I asked members of the opposition Parliament how many pages of the Constitution they have. No one can answer,” said Thakur, holding a copy of a book he called the “truth” of Gandhi’s family and the party.
Thakur quoted Supreme Court advocate Gopal Shankar Narayan’s presentation in the book, praising the framing of the Constitution by “brilliant minds” like Dr BR Ambedkar. He noted that the Constitution was not influenced by “Nehruvian thinking” and laid down its power to protect the rights of citizens, including those recovered after the Emergency.
“The Congress even threatened the law enforcement agencies during the Emergency,” Thakur said, emphasizing what he called the party’s “dark chapters” in history.
