Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has asked the Center to give permission to recruit 800 Special Police Officers (SPOs) to eradicate Naxalites from the State.
Ms. Anitha participated in a meeting in New Delhi, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Monday where Chief Ministers, Home Ministers, Principal Secretaries and Director Generals of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) States concerned attended.
Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said that the State government has identified 526 hectares of land in Relli area of ​​Kothavalasa mandal in Vizianagaram district for setting up Greyhounds Training Center to deal with extremists.
“Andhra Pradesh has only 17 CPRF companies fighting the Maoists. I asked the Center to return the five Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) who were assigned to other duties in June last year,” Ms. Anitha told the media.
“Out of the 346 mobile towers approved for Andhra Pradesh by the Center under the Mobile Tower Project Phase-II, construction of 211 towers is still ongoing,” the Home Minister said in the meeting.
Proposals have been submitted for the construction of 1,455.23 kms of roads and bridges in the worst affected areas, he said.
Following the instructions from the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, steps were being taken to establish Anti-Narcotics Task Force teams to control drugs and the menace of ganja in the Province, Mrs. Anitha told Mr. Amit Shah.
