The Andhra Pradesh government has deposited a sum of Rs 602 crore in the bank accounts of around four lakh affected people recent flood in the statesaid a government statement on Wednesday, September 25.
After the floods, about 1,600 teams were sent by the state government to assess the losses caused by the devastating floods in the state. The teams completed their work in three days, which resulted in the compensation being paid to the people involved.
The technology-based solution was designed with a front-end application and a back-end database running on a handheld device that can control the counting process, a government statement said.
As part of the calculation, no bank account data is collected. Instead, Aadhaar data was collected, and this was used to arrive at the verified bank account details of each beneficiary, it added.
Bank account details of four lakh households were also integrated through the UPI portal so that payments could be made quickly, the statement said.
Speaking about the government’s immediate release of this relief money, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, “Rs 602 crore has been directly credited to the accounts as flood relief for up to 4 lakh people. The total damage has been put at Rs 7,600 crore. , which included and public and private goods,” Naidu said, addressing a press conference at NTR district headquarters.
Naidu also informed that the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has received donations amounting to Rs 400 crore.
Naidu also added that donors have responded enthusiastically to the relief efforts of the government machinery.
“… people responded enthusiastically. Rs 400 crore came as donations to the Chief Minister Relief Fund, any other state would not have received so much. This is very high,” said Naidu, speaking to officials earlier.
