Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided to form a task force comprising railway, revenue, and road and building (R&B) officials to speed up project completion and resolve land acquisition issues related to railway projects in the State.
In the review meeting on Tuesday (October 22, 2024), Mr. Naidu emphasized the need for completion of all projects as per the timeline. “All projects for which tenders have been finalized must be completed within three years. All duplication and other projects must be completed in four years. The development of 72 railway stations should be completed within two years and development works worth Rs 3,170 crore should be completed within two and a half years,” he said.

The Chief Minister told the officials to follow the timelines of each project to ensure timely completion. “The Union Government was ready to undertake projects worth Rs 72,000 crore. Speed up these projects and ensure they are completed on time,” he said.
Mr. Naidu said that the delay in the previous railway projects was due to the policies of the previous government, but expressed his determination to complete all the ongoing projects as soon as possible. “The State Government will take appropriate measures to solve the problems of land acquisition. For the Kotipalli-Narsapur railway line, land acquisition should be completed within four months. Land acquisition for the Sattupalli-Kovvur line should be completed soon, and the construction work should start,” he said.

Mr. Naidu said the land acquisition for the 83 km Renigunta-Gudur third line project, worth Rs884 crore, should be completed within four months, and the project should be completed within three years. “Planning changes for the Kadapa-Bengaluru line have been discussed, and will be discussed in detail before making a final decision,” he said, adding that the State Government has sanctioned Rs20 crore for acquiring 11 acres of land for the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti line. .
Emphasizing the importance of completing the 401 km Guntur-Guntakal double line within 12 months, Mr. Under the AMRUT scheme, Kuppam railway station was being developed at a cost of ₹6.98 crore. The Visakhapatnam station was being upgraded with an investment of ₹433 crore, while the Gunadala station in Vijayawada was being upgraded at a cost of ₹24 crore. He asked the officials to complete the development works at Guntur and Kurnool stations, which currently cost Rs 40 crore each.
